Building projects - in progress

Community Hall in Pakokku

Ever since the coup started, in 2021, many people fled their country towns in search of safer places to live such as Pakokku.

M2M has recipients who live in Pakokku, which is in Northwest Myanmar, and their names are Joseph and Naomi.

Joseph and Naomi have two children. However, due to the influx of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) from other country towns who have been resettled in Pakokku, Joseph & Naomi's hut is currently home to over 30 people.

As you can see from the two photos below, Joseph and his family are rapidly running out of space.

This crowded hut becomes even more challenging when someone gets sick, because that person might need to be quarantined.

So what did Joseph do about this problem?

Joseph has been saving for a long time. He recently purchased a block of land with a few trees on it.

The land is flat and dry. Pakokku does not receive much rain during the wet season, and therefore, flooding is not going to be an issue in Pakokku.

Joseph indicated that he wants to build a multi-purpose community hall on the block of land so that he can provide shelter, education and healthcare to his family and all the IDPs in his care.

Below is a floor plan, for the main building, and a bird's eye view of the main building with a blue carport and a detached bathroom.

What did M2M do?

M2M has been collecting money, through various fundraisers, since October 2024. So far we've raised around $AUD21,000 for this building project!

This is not our first building project. To be realistic $21,000 is not going to be enough money to complete the construction of this community hall. To complete this building project M2M still needs to raise about $AUD48,000 so, please give generously towards this exciting building project.

Projects that will benefit all our recipients

Food Appeal Program (FAP)

People Waiting For Daily Ration Of Cooking Oil in Yangon

Did you know that the people in the queue were waiting to receive their daily ration of cooking oil?

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Myanmar is getting worse. The fact that the cost of rice and cooking oil is going up, is not making life any easier for the thousands of children who go to bed hungry every night. Our recipients could not possibly feed every child outside of their care, but they're doing everything they can with their limited resources.

What can you do?

If you've been following us on Facebook, you would have heard about our new Food Appeal Program (FAP).

So far we've raised $33,630 for the FAP. In a nutshell, that money will ensure that our recipients in Myanmar will be fed, clothed and educated all the way through to the end of April 2026!

Let's be realistic. $33,630 is not going to last forever. So please dig deep and give generously towards the FAP.

Building projects - temporarily suspended due to armed conflict in Rakhine state

Elijah's Multi-Purpose Hall

For many years Elijah has been using a makeshift hall for gatherings such as primary school classes, drug interventions and for fellowship services too. Please see the photos below.

Some of these gatherings have attracted very large audiences from people who live far away from Elijah's commune, and therefore, there is usually a lot of pressure on Elijah to provide food and temporary accommodation for the sojourners.

To learn more about why Elijah needs to build a new multi-purpose hall, please click here to read his letter.

We've already raised $5,446; however, this building project is likely to cost $AUD26,000. So, please give generously if you can.

Elijah's incomplete building project

Not everybody has a spare $1,000 just lying around and we respect that. Some will give $500, some will give more than $500, and some will give less than that. But remember, every little bit helps. If you have the money and the inclination to support this building project, please use the banking details below to transfer your money to M2M.

In the Yangon district

Chin Refugees resettlement program in Yangon (CRY)

Muang and his crew in 2024

If truth be told, most of our recipients in Myanmar originally came from Chin state, in North-West Myanmar. Muang is one of our recipients and he came from Chin.

Muang moved to Yangon where he started his own family and he planted the Global Transformation Mission Church. Looking after Chin Refugees in Yangon (CRY) is just one of Muang's many humanitarian projects.

The living conditions in Chin state are vastly different to the conditions in Yangon. Most places in Chin state have no ATMs and most people live in appalling poverty. The advent of Covid-19 and the constant scuffles between the national army and armed rebel groups is not making life any easier for the people who have to live there.

Using his limited resources, Muang managed to accommodate 19 refugees in Yangon plus his family of three.  Your generous donations will make it possible for Muang to pay for their food, medical bills and rental expenses during their exile in Yangon.

Is there anything else you can do to help?

Please consider sponsoring a needy child.  It costs $60 every three months.  For more information about child sponsorship, please visit our Child Sponsorship Program website.

Mercy Fund Outreach program (MFO)

Mercy and her crew in 2024Due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Myanmar, Mercy and her family have been inundated with requests for financial support from more than 30 families.  However, due to the rising costs of rice and cooking oil, in Myanmar, Mercy and her family will not be able to assist those families without your support.

M2M has been sending Mercy monthly payments to enable her to purchase rice, cooking oil and baby products for the needy people in her community; many of whom have been unemployed since the coup started in 2021.

From the capital city - Nay Pyi Taw

Grace & Peace Children's Home (GPCH)

Kennedy is a farmer and a caretaker

For over 5 years, Kennedy was the chief caretaker at the Yangon campus.  Due to reasons of a personal nature, Kennedy has decided to pursue his passion for children's ministry elsewhere.

In 2023, Kennedy moved into a large rental property on the outskirts of Nay Pyi Taw, which is the capital of Myanmar.  If you would like a tour, click here.

Kennedy is using his rental to look after 24 financially disadvantaged children, most of whom came from Rakhine state; and to teach them some valuable lessons about agriculture.

To learn more about what's been happening at the GPCH, please watch this video.

From the Magway region

Rice for refugees

Joseph and his crew in 2024

During the mission trip to Myanmar in 2020,  Pauly & Kennedy traveled to a town in the Magway region called Pakokku.  That's where Pauly was introduced to Joseph and his wife.  Joseph was a graduate from Pastor David's college.  After graduating, Joseph was commissioned by the Global Baptist Association to disciple to the people who live in Pakokku.

Due to the political instability in Myanmar, Joseph and his wife have been using their limited resources to help the refugees, from Mindat, who fled to Pakokku.

From Rakhine state

Elijah

Life in RakhineIf you thought that living in the city was tough; try living in the countryside.  Elijah runs a commune in a rural part of Rakhine state, which is over 200 miles away from the nearest convenience store.

M2M has been supporting Elijah since Paul's mission trip to Myanmar in 2020.

Although the commune is partially self-sufficient, financial resources are still needed for meat, medicine, and for various building projects, such as the kitchen project.

From further afield

Simon

Simon and his family in 2024

Due to ongoing political instability in Myanmar along with severe disruptions to supply chains, which were caused by the Covid-19 crisis, many people have sought political asylum in Myanmar's neighbouring countries such as India.  And that's exactly what Simon and his family did.

Simon used to be in charge of the Gangaw campus, which was located in the Magway region.  Paul and Kennedy visited Simon in 2019 and 2020.

Shortly after Simon married Yin Yin, they welcomed their first child into the world.  Then after that, this family fled to North-East India, where they now live as Burmese refugees.

In 2024, Simon informed M2M that he had accepted a contract in Malaysia.  Therefore, Simon is working in Malaysia to support his family who are still living in North-East India.
